My name is Eric Gingerich and I’m the Resident Director in J. Alvin. I was born and raised in Indiana, which basically means I really like the game of basketball. I attended Indiana Wesleyan University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. After taking a year to work with a sports missions organization and attend Focus Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs, I entered Taylor University. In the Spring of ’10, I received my Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Development from TU.
Now that I’m at John Brown, I’ve found it to be the perfect place for me at this point in my life. I absolutely love to work in the atmosphere that J. Alvin, and JBU, provides. There is a lot of energy, enthusiasm, and passion that radiates from this place. In other words, it’s high octane – and it’s fun!
My passion is to reach men where they are and take them to the next level in several areas. I want them to become better leaders and change-agents in the culture surrounding them. This includes both professionally and personally. I love to see men become better bosses, managers, workers, husbands and fathers (yes, I believe this is possible, even before you are married and have children), and friends. Most of all, I want them to learn what it truly means to be a “man after God’s own heart.” Here in J. Alvin, I believe we are striving to be a brotherhood that pursues these things together. We desire to follow the wise words found in Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
