Women Chuck Lady Cavs
Shawnee, Okla. (January 8, 2011) — The JBU women’s basketball went to work on Saturday afternoon and clocked out with a 63-52 win over St. Gregory’s (Okla.) in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The win improves the ladies to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference standings.
Junior Chelsea Garrison scored 16 points to lead JBU. And Freshman Sierra Shipley added 11.
Leticia Silva had a game high 20 points and six rebounds to lead SGU (5-9, 1-6). Jalisa Howard added 16.
JBU was down 25-23 at halftime, but came out fired up in the second half and quickly erased the deficit. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Cavaliers 40-27 in the second half en route to the 11 point win.
For the game, JBU shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the field while giving up 40.5 percent (17-of-42) to SGU. JBU forced 23 turnovers while committing only 11. The ladies won the rebounding battle 33-32.
JBU returns home to take on Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
