JBU Tennis Men Split Weekend Matches
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 14, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles competed last weekend in a weekend series of matches in Conway, Ark. On Friday, John Brown fell to host Hendrix (Ark.) 7-2, and on Saturday defeated University of the Ozarks (Ark.) 6-3.
In the Saturday match doubles, John Brown’s Bobby Rojas and Austin Phillips defeated Ozarks’ Zach Shiff and Lee Short 8-5. Kevin Coleman and Roberto Reyes also won for the Golden Eagles, beating Josue Ayala and Jordan Bass 8-4.
In singles, Coleman defeated Shiff 7-6, 6-4; Rojas bested Keith Edwards 6-1, 6-0; John Brown’s Kyle Carter beat Paul Northcutt 7-5, 2-6, 10-5; and the Golden Eagles’ Peter Thulson defeated Bass 6-3, 6-2.
John Brown is now 2-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles will host Harding on Feb. 23 at 1:00.
