Nicholas Robinson
Director of Sports Information
Nicholas Robinson is entering his first year as Director of Sports Information at John Brown University in 2012.
This past year, Robinson held the position of Assistant Sports Information Director at Graceland University (Iowa) for the 2011-12 season. While in Lamoni, Robinson was the primary media contact for the men’s and women’s volleyball programs in addition to serving as the secondary contact for each of the other 17 Yellowjacket sports.
Prior to his stint at Graceland, Robinson spent the 2010-11 season as the Assistant to the Sports Information Director at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. As a Panther, Robinson assisted the department with graphic design, social media and website initiatives, all while serving as the primary media contact for the institution’s American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I men’s hockey program. During his tenure, the program captured the National Championship in their first year of competition at the Division I level, defeating Lindenwood University in the National Championship game, 3-2 in overtime.
Fresh out of college, Robinson served as the Director of Student Life Sports at Grand Valley State University (Mich.). As an administrator, Robinson oversaw the budget, promotion and eligibility for over 30 student-athlete organizations.
While still an undergraduate student, Robinson held the position of Director of Communications for the ACHA, Division III. There, he helped maintain oversight of Division 3 programs by ensuring all teams reported scores in a timely manner, while compiling a list of every national champion, scores from each tournament game and a directory of conferences and contacts.
As a collegiate athlete, Robinson played for the men’s hockey program at Calvin College. In his four years on the team, Robinson earned a spot on the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference all-star team three times. While among the top 15 scoring leaders in program history, Robinson helped lead the team to three National Tournament berths while only missing one regular season contest during his career due to injury.
A native of Clinton Twp., Mich., Robinson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. In the fall of 2010, he completed his Master of Science degree with high honors in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from the California University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Robinson is working on his Ed.D. in Sport Management at the United States Sports Academy.
