New Feature in 2013: TRUTH SOCCER

Change the Game.

Technical ability MUST be the foundation of every soccer player. A skillful player can be placed into ANY SYSTEM and ANY STYLE OF PLAY on ANY TEAM. The majority of youth teams, however, are trying to figure out how to win games within their local or national leagues, and this emphasis on match results often comes at the cost of TRUE INDIVIDUAL TECHNICAL TRAINING. There is not a SINGLE soccer player who is skillful as they can be, but there is also no “magic spell” that will make you any better. It takes quality instruction and hard work to change your game. The GOLDEN EAGLE SOCCER ACADEMY at John Brown University is designed to take technical training to the next level. We believe that you can see significant results in your technical skill over the course of a few days, AND that the techniques and training principles you learn at the GESA can be applied after camp for players to continue to Change the Game.

The Golden Eagle Soccer Academy is also offering the option for campers to enroll in TRUTH SOCCER, a series of soccer ministry training sessions created by JBU Coaching Staff. TRUTH SOCCER will encourage players to figure out how to engage the Gospel message on the soccer field in practical and life-changing ways. We are confident that athletes enrolled in TRUTH SOCCER will never view their faith or the game of soccer the same after these intense and interactive sessions. Enrollment in TRUTH SOCCER is not required for participation in the GESA. But active participation in these sessions will teach you how to use your technical skills, your actions on the field, and your approach to competition to TRULY Change the Game.

Camp Options:

Elite Prospects I.D. Camp (Ages 15-18)        July 10-13            $385 ($365 before June 2)
Full Day Commuters                                                                      $260 ($250 before June 2)

Advanced-level technical training sessions will be the foundation of the Elite Prospects ID Camp, as we give players the opportunity to work on the technical skills required at the collegiate and professional levels in an atmosphere that allows true growth. Our technical training methods will even improve elite-level players. All matches and group tactical sessions will be designed to solidify the technical training. The expectation is that EVERY player leaves the camp with a more refined and useful set of technical skills than they had before camp. The staff will be comprised of highly qualified college coaches from JBU and other universities. Players interested in playing for JBU in the future are strongly encouraged to attend.

-- The cost of housing and food is included in the price for residential campers. Commuters will have the option to purchase meal cards at the start of camp.

-- TRUTH SOCCER- All campers have the option of joining TRUTH SOCCER, the soccer ministry training sessions at the GESA. TRUTH SOCCER is intended to encourage players to figure out how to engage the message of the Gospel on the soccer field. Advanced registration is required. There is a $10 fee to cover the cost of books and materials used by TRUTH SOCCER participants.

The Golden Eagle Youth Academy will utilize the same “technique-based” approach to the game that players will use in the Elite Prospects ID Camp. Each individual will have the opportunity to improve through technical training sessions, while tactical sessions will teach players how to attack and defend in groups. Each individual camper will be assigned to a team. Their team will train together during the day and will be able to apply what they've learned by playing matches against other teams each evening. The expectation is that EVERY player leaves the camp with a more refined and useful set of technical skills than they had before camp. Staff will be comprised of college coaches and JBU soccer players.

The Golden Eagle Soccer Academy is open to both High School Teams and Club Teams. Technical and tactical sessions will improve each player's ability to play within the framework of small groups to enhance your team’s system of play. Evening matches will allow each team to showcase their development throughout the week.  Our staff will work with your coaches to tailor the sessions to your specific needs. Technical improvement is our one non-negotiable requirement, as the GESA is confident that more skillful players WILL lead to a more skillful team. High School and Club coaches have the option to attend sessions or receive copies of the sessions run with your team. The Half Day Camp and the Talon Academy are new offerings for the GESA this year! BOYS and GIRLS ages 5-12 who are looking for a quality soccer experience are invited to sign up for the Half Day Camp or Talon Academy. Players will learn new skills, play plenty of games, and will have the opportunity to work with JBU coaches. Every player gets a camp t-shirt. And Talon Academy parents are NOT required to stay at the fields!
