JBU Men Struggle on the Road
Alva, Okla. (January 17, 2008) — John Brown University men’s basketball had a tough night in Alva, Okla. on Thursday night falling 74-46 in Sooner Athletic Conference action. The loss drops JBU to 9-7 overall and 2-6 in the SAC.
JBU, playing without injured starters and leading scorer Cody Page for a sixth straight game and point guard James Manthe, dug a hole for themselves in the first half and entered the break down 39-14. In the second half, JBU managed to match Northwestern point-for-point but couldn’t overcome the 25-point first half deficit. Joel Tesis and Jarrett McGriff led JBU in scoring with 16 and 14 points respectively. Shane Hansen had a game and career high 22 points for Northwestern.
For the game, the Golden Eagles only managed to hit 31 % of their shots while the Rangers shot a blistering 52%. JBU will return to the floor when the travel to Oklahoma City to take on Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at 8 p.m.
