JBU Art Scholarship

The JBU Department of Visual Arts has 6 scholarships available per year at $2,500 each. This scholarship is renewable for a total of four years or a maximum award of $10,000 per student, as long as the student maintains a 3.0 grade point average in their major and a 2.5 GPA overall. The scholarships are designated for freshman students who are new to JBU and majoring in Graphic and Web Design, illustration, Photography, or Digital Media Arts. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of talent.

We need your application and a copy of your portfolio returned to us by February 15th to be eligible for the following fall semester or spring semester. We want to see what you consider to be your best work. This can be in whatever medium you have been working-painting, drawing, design, computer graphics, web, or whatever.

Since the inception of this program we have seen a large number of talented students develop their abilities and begin successful careers. Many of our graduates let us know that they developed much more than their artistic abilities. We see students that are prepared for life in a highly respected academic environment. Many also let us know that they were drawn closer to God because of the spiritual life here at JBU as well. So we are thankful to the donor that has provided this scholarship that will enable more students to be a part of JBU. Application and Portfolio Submission Instructions (can only be submitted Feb. 1-15, 2013):

Please fill out and submit your Scholarship Application, along with your digital portfolio. THESE ARE BOTH TO BE SUBMITTED ONLY BETWEEN FEBRUARY 1-15, 2013.

Your portfolio must be submitted digitally. If the work was not created digitally, then you should either photograph or scan it. You may submit a maximum of twelve(12) images. Please save images in the JPEG format, each with a maximum file size of 10 Mb.

If you wish to submit VIDEO work, you may submit up to five(5) video files, each with a maximum file size of 100 Mb.

Please name each uploaded file with your first initial followed by a period and your last name and then a sequential number. (Example: K.Smith8.jpeg, K.Smith9.jpeg, K.Smith10.jpeg and so on). If you wish, you may attach a separate document that lists the type of media used, size of art, date of completion, and if it is an abstract piece, which side is up!

Within 48 hours of receiving your application we will email you a link to upload your portfolio. If you do not receive an email, or have filled out the PDF application, please contact us so we can send/re-send an upload link.
