2013 - European Art Tour
European Art Tour 2013 - Paris, Brugge, Amsterdam
In the summer of 2013, Professors Peter Pohle and Joel Armstrong led the European Art Tour on a journey beginning in Paris and ending in Amsterdam. While in Paris we visited the Louvre, seeing and being fascinated by Leonardo’s Mona Lisa and the Milo Venus statue. Other museums included the Musee de l’Orangerie with Monet’s large waterlillies and the Musee d’Orsay with the large collection of Impressionist paintings. A boat ride on the Seine river and visiting the top of the Eifel tower were other highlights during our stay in Paris. We continued our travel with a one-day stop at the old town of Brugge in Belgium enjoying Belgium famous chocolate (yum). The last week we stayed in Amsterdam visiting the Rijksmuseum with its Rubens and Rembrandts. The Van Gogh museum gave us much inside in the creative process of Vincent’s artwork. A boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam gave us much inside into Amsterdam culture and architecture.
