2011 European Art Tour- Italy
In June 2011 Charles Peer and Jeannie Abbott led a group through Italy. We spent three nights in Rome and visited the Borghese Museum, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's, the Trevi Fountain, St. Peters in Chains, the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Pantheon, San Luigi del Francesi and numerous other churches and monuments. From Rome we took a train to Venice and fell in love with this beautiful city. We visited St. Marks Cathedral, San Marco Square, Frari Church, San Polo church, and took a boat to the island of Burano. After three days we took a train to Florence where we enjoyed the Duomo, Pilazzo Vecchio, Accademia, Pilazzo Medici Riccardi, Santa Maria del Carmine, Bargello, Santa Croce, Pazzi Chapel, and the Uffizi. We also took at day trip to Siena and explored the town, museum, and cathedral. Then it was on to Orvieto for two nights. Orvieto turned out to be everyone's favorite stop with its small town atmosphere, beautiful cathedral, cave tour and relaxed spirit. Then back to Rome for one night before heading back to the USA.
