2005 European Art Tour - London and Paris
For two weeks in June, 2005 Mr. Armstrong and his family along with Mr. Andrus and his family joined 12 students on an art trip to London and Paris. We landed at London's Gatwick airport, took the train to Victoria Station and then walked to our hotel which was right between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey—a short walk from each.
For 5 beautiful days we toured London, visiting such sites as the National Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Design Museum, and the St. Bride Printing Library. Students climbed to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral, took a boat ride on the Thames, and experienced a "flight" on the London Eye.
From London we took the Eurostar train under the English Channel to Paris. We saw Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, rode a boat on the Seine, visited the Orsay Museum, the Louvre, and the Rodin Museum as well as stops at Notre Dame and Ste Chappelle. On a day trip out of Paris we wandered Monet's water lily gardens and home as well as a visit to Chartres Cathedral.
We had two weeks of great weather, great art, great food and great friendships.
