Early Child Education
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E.), students must:
- Complete 62 hours in the program (includes 12 hours for internship)
- Complete a total of 124 semester hours accepted by JBU.
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or above for all degree work, a 2.5 in the major, and a grade of “C” or 2.0 or higher in each course in the major.
- Complete the following general education requirements:
• English Composition - 6 hours
• Humanities/Fine Arts - 11 hours (6 hours in major)
• Natural Science/Math - 13 hours (4 hours in major)
• Social/Behavioral Science - 12 hours (3 hours in major)*
• Health/Physical Education - 3 hours
• Biblical Studies - 6 hours (3 in major) - Receive approval of the professional portfolio (includes evidence of successfully completing the Praxis exams required for Arkansas licensure.)
*Students must complete Arkansas history, geography, and American Government (a grade of “C” or 2.0 or higher in each course) in order to fulfill social/behavioral sciences requirements and to be eligible for a teaching license in Arkansas.
