Credit by Examination

Credit by Examination is an inexpensive way for you to validate learning in an academic area by taking a standardized test. Credit by exam is limited to 30 hours.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Click here for a list (*.PDF) of CLEP tests that are recognized by John Brown University for credit toward the Advance Program's elective and general education degree requirements in the Organizational Management and Business Information Systems majors.

Students should receive Registrar's approval to apply credit from these tests to their own graduation requirements PRIOR to taking the test. Tests that duplicate or overlap previous college credit will not be approved.

A Student may not take a nationally recognized standardize examination (CLEP or DANTES) if the student is currently enrolled in the equivalent course on the first day of the semester. A student may take a CLEP or DANTES equivalent to a course they were enrolled in during an earlier semester.

Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational

Support (DANTES) -- introductory college level exams in more than 50 subjects. 

DANTES exams are available at the Rogers, the Fort Smith, and Little Rock Centers and in the Registrar's Office on JBU’s main campus in Siloam Springs. CLEP exams are only available at main campus in Siloam Springs. For additional CLEP testing sites, click here for the CLEP Test Center listing.
