Certification

The programs of this division are approved by the Arkansas State Department of Education and are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Education (NCATE), the foremost accrediting agency for Education. 

Successful completion of a Education program at John Brown University prepares the student for certification in the state of Arkansas. 

Students who plan to teach in states other than Arkansas should seek to meet the specific requirements of the states where they expect to teach. Certification officials in the majority of the states automatically grant initial certification to graduates of NCATE accredited Education programs. In addition, most states will grant initial certification to individuals certified in the state of Arkansas.
