Facilities

The Bell Science Hall

Our current facilities include a two-story, 38,000 Square ft. building. The building houses the natural science division, which includes the departments of biology, chemistry, general science and physics.
The facility includes classrooms, faculty offices and biology, chemistry, physics, microbiology and biochemistry labs.

The Greenhouse

The greenhouse, located adjacent to the science building, maintains live plant specimens for classroom study in courses such as botany and ecology. The greenhouse is maintained by biology work-study students.

The Cadaver Lab

Students in Human Anatomy may work in small groups on human cadavers. Students may also take Advanced Dissection, where they choose systems of the body to dissect and study. It usually takes two years to completely dissect one cadaver. Many pre-med students find the experience of working on a cadaver as an undergraduate invaluable.

Instrumental Lab

Upper division chemistry and biochemistry majors  learn about and work with several instruments used in chemical analysis. Through small lab group activities and individual self paced practicums students explore several types of chemical analysis in preparation for graduate school.

Physics Lab

Students in both General Physics (Calculus based) and Fundamentals of Physics (Algebra based) use the Physics labs. Students work in small groups to explore the laws of physics through hands on experimentation.

Organic Lab

Students taking organic chemistry I or II use the organic lab, as well as upper level chemistry and biochemistry students in classes such as quantitative analysis and biochemistry. This lab is used for many different types of chemical experiments.

General Chemistry Lab

This lab is used by the general or inorganic chemistry students. Students perform many different types of experiments which exhibit the principles of chemistry that they are learning in class.

General Biology Lab

Students taking the general education required general biology make use of this lab, as well as lower level biology classes. This lab is used for many different types of biological lab experiments, such as the one above which helps explain isotonic, hyptonic, and hypertonic solutions with the use of an egg and sucrose solutions.

Physical Chemistry Lab

This lab is where physical chemistry students perform their experiments. This lab allows students to explore the laws that govern both physics and chemistry together.

Classrooms

This is the S106 classroom, one of several classrooms in the science building. This is where the majority of upper level science classes are taught.
