Dr. David Johnson
Professor of Psychology

David Johnson began his study of psychology at Houghton College in New York, earning his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology. He developed an interest in cognitive-social psychology, eventually earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental Social Psychology from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Johnson teaches Introductory Psychology, Honors Introductory Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Behavioral Neuroscience. His research interests are in the areas of attribution theory, attribution-behavior relationships, counterfactual thinking, and resource management. He also has a strong interest in developing instructional resources for teachers of psychology.
Dr.
Johnson has been active professionally throughout his career. His
published books, articles, and conference presentations number over
100. Dr. Johnson is an active member of a variety of professional
organizations. From 2000-2001, Dr. Johnson served as president of
the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, Division 2 of the American
Psychological Association.
Outside of his professional activities, Dr. Johnson enjoys time with his wife, Simone Schroder, Assistant Professor of Library Services at JBU. He has an adult son, Deron, who works in Information Technology. Along with writing and publishing, Dr. Johnson spends his time golfing, reading, and developing his photography skills.
