Honors Scholars Program
Program Requirements
Admissions Standards
Each year, the admissions staff interviews qualified prospective
students and, from this pool of applicants, selects the new Honors
Scholars. Transfer students and currently-enrolled JBU students
who have enough core curriculum courses remaining to be taken for
the Honors Degree may also apply. Eligibility for admission is based
on high school GPA , SAT/ACT scores, and the interview.
Honors Scholars' Responsibilities
in the Program
JBU Honors scholars are strongly encouraged to model Judeo-Christian
principles and good stewardship of their academic gifts through serving
in leadership positions on campus and participating in service activities
both on and off-campus. The Student Honors Organization promotes scholarly
presentations and service by the student body as a whole and serves
as a peer support group for honors students.
To Proceed to the Junior/Senior Level
To continue to the junior and senior level of the program, a student
must have an overall GPA of 3.6 at the end of the sophomore year and
submit an outline of honors plans. The total program has approximately
a hundred sixty students. Successful completion of the program is
highlighted at an Honors Convocation and by the presentation of a
special Honors Degree diploma at graduation. Honors courses are designated
on the transcript.
