Facilities
Our building is an awesome facility in the center of campus. We have over 18,000 sq. ft. which includes a gallery, lobby, faculty offices, two design classrooms, a theater, two traditional art labs, two digital art labs, lockers, and more. Beginning in Spring 2009 we will also have two photo studios, a darkroom, and a student workroom. The entire facility is handicap accessible. We have included a number of pictures here so please take a look. We think you will be impressed.
This building has actually been on the JBU campus for over 4 decades as the original Science Building. The facility gradually deteriorated and the Science Department outgrew it and moved into a new building. The building was then gutted, (we literally took down every interior wall!) and rebuilt as an Art and Design facility. The faculty had plenty of input into the design of the new spaces and it has turned out to be a major success.
In addition to new space we also have a lot of new equipment including easels, drawing horses, tables and chairs, and computers.
