Dr. Ed Klotz graduated from JBU with a Broadcasting degree. He received his Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and his DMiss, Doctor in Missiology, from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Dr. Klotz and his family served as missionaries in Nigeria, Liberia, and Eritrea with SIM (formerly Sudan Interior Mission) from 1974 to 1994. He is currently an associate member of SIM. He has done research on entry orientation of new missionaries to West Africa.
Dr. Klotz teaches Cultural Anthropology, Intercultural Communications, Cultural Values Seminar, Research Methods, Leadership Skills, and coordinates the Perspectives Course, a study of the world Christian movement. He especially enjoys Cultural Anthropology and Cultural Values Seminar. He has also taught Global Leadership and Ethics in the Master of Leadership and Ethics program at JBU.
In 2004 Dr. Klotz became the director of a grant entitled “The Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Program” of the U.S. Department of Education. The main goals are to expand JBU’s international curriculum and student international experiences, increase faculty international awareness and further develop the Spanish language program. Dr. Klotz advises both Intercultural Studies majors and Cross-Culture majors. He serves on the Undergraduate Council and the International Programs Committee.
When not involved on campus, Dr. Klotz enjoys refinishing furniture and, on occasion, ventures to various antique shops in Northwest Arkansas with his wife, Kay. The Klotzes have two children, both graduates of JBU.
Dr. Klotz also stimulates various JBU professors with potent servings
of espresso coffee, for which they are grateful.
