Student Support Services
Student Support Services is a federally funded grant program of the Department of Education designed to promote student academic success. The purpose of the program is to assist students who fit federal low-income eligibility guidelines or who are first-generation college students or who have documented disabilities to stay in school and graduate. This is accomplished through offering a number of academic and personal support services.
The Student Support Services program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The Student Support Services program may also provide grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of SS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of the participants and facilitate the process of transition from one level of higher education to the next.
