JBU Hosts 'Arkansas Wilderness' Photo Exhibit

Siloam Spring, Ark. (Jan. 16, 2015) - The work of renowned Arkansas nature photographer Tim Ernst will be on display at John Brown University’s Windgate Visual Arts West gallery beginning Tuesday, Jan. 20. Ernst’s photography has been featured in hun- dreds of national, regional and local publications including “National Geographic,” “Outdoor Photographer” and the “New York Times.”

An opening reception for the exhibit, “Arkansas Wilderness: A Rare Quality of Light,” will be held from 6-7 p.m. in the gallery followed by a reception and presentation entitled “Arkansas Nightscapes: Wilderness Photos from Twilight ‘Till Dawn” in the Simmons Great Hall. The exhibit will be open from Jan. 20 until Feb. 13, and both the gallery opening and special presentation are free and open to the public.

“This is the second time that Ernst has visited JBU and that exhibit was one that everyone responded to,” said Charles Peer, gallery director. “He does a great job of connecting with his audience and sharing relatable information about his shots.”
All of Ernst’s photographs in the exhibit were taken in Arkansas.

“Ernst is one of the few photographers JBU has hosted who highlights nature’s beauty and color,” said Neal Holland, associate professor of visual art. “We are so fortunate to have someone of his talent capturing the beauty of our local landscape.”

The gallery is open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-4 p.m. on Sundays. For further information contact the JBU Department of Visual Arts at 479-238-8561.
